JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman will travel to Dahlonega, Georgia, for the LeeAnn Noble Invitational to face a loaded field of 16 teams, 12 of which are ranked or receiving votes.
The Eagles have done an excellent job this fall season, taking care of business in their events. Other than a ninth-place finish in their first event of the season, C-N has had two great finishes in their last two tournaments, which included an Emery Fisher medalist finish at the Savannah Lakes Invitational.
On top of that, the Eagles are in a good position to enter the national rankings. At the start of the season, C-N was receiving five votes. However, their strong finishes at the last two events have seen them come out on top of #6 Flagler, #23 West Florida, #21 Lander, and LMU, who is also receiving votes.
A strong finish at the LeeAnn Noble would certainly solidify their standing among the country's top teams. With three top ten teams in the field, Carson-Newman will have their work cut out for them, but the Eagles are bringing a strong lineup ready for the challenge.
The Eagles' lineup will consist of the junior, Emery Fisher at one, who has contended as one of the best players in the region. Anaelle Picot will be in the second spot for Carson-Newman. The graduate student is coming off one of her better weeks of the season. With six straight rounds in the 70's, Picot is poised for a strong finish.
Grace Lambert will be in the three spot, while Rylie Tucker will take up the four spot following her best weekend of the season. Tucker's 14th-place finish last week at St. Simon's was the team's best, stringing together three rounds in the low 70s. Madison Miller will be in the final slot for the Eagles, finishing strong last weekend with her lowest round of the season in the second 18 holes at 76 (+4), following that with a 79.
The LeeAnn Noble will be held at Achasta Golf Club, which should be a treat for these Eagles golfers. The Jack Nicklaus signature golf course has been praised for its challenging layout, which wraps around the Chestatee River. In 2020, the course was number six in the state of Georgia in Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play. The ladies will play the weekend from a challenging 6,100-yard length.
Last season, the Eagles placed 6th at the event with Picot and Fisher both tying their three-day total at +8 and tying for 39th in the field. Madison Cline was the Eagles' best finisher at +2 for a 19th-place finish.
The LeeAnn Noble Memorial is held annually in loving memory of the late LeeAnn Noble, a former member of the UNG women's golf team that passed away in 2014. Noble, a 20-year-old student-athlete on the Nighthawk women's golf team passed away in 2014 at Emory University Hospital after a lengthy battle with heart complications. Noble was a member of the women's golf team and a nursing student. She received a heart transplant when she was just 12 years old. In January of 2014, Noble experienced a heart attack from which she was unable to recover.
The event begins at 8:30 AM on Monday morning with live scoring available on the Clippd website.
