DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Anaelle Picot strung together three impressive rounds while Emery Fisher shot her best round of the tournament at -1, but the Eagles wouldn't gain ground on the loaded field.
Out of the 16 teams at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, only five of them weren't ranked or receiving votes. Carson-Newman fought to gain ground, but Wingate came out the champions of the event, logging an impressive team score of -15 on the week while Anderson's Olivia Pellerin won the individual medalist honors with a three-day total of -10.
Picot was the shining light for C-N this week with a 7th place finish and a three day total of three under. In the final round, the graduate student was even par through twelve holes until a double bogey at the par-three 3rd. She would rally, though, and grab back-to-back birdies on the par-five 6th and the par-four 7th to finish the day with a 74 (+2). This is Picot's 3rd top ten finish of her career and smashes her previous 54-hole low score by 11 strokes.
Fisher was the next best for the Eagles overall with a three-round total of +4. Her final round was her best of the weekend. The junior started on hole 10 and was bogey free on the back with two birdies to come in at 34 (-2). She found some trouble on holes 2-4, playing that stretch four-over before firing three more birdies to record a 37 on the front nine. Her 71 (-1) was the best round from an Eagle on Tuesday.
Madison Miller made a vast improvement from her first two rounds on the final day. The freshman was the final C-N golfer in the 70s today, carding a birdie at the par-four 2nd to shoot even on the front nine. With a 77 (+5), Miller was +23 over the week and 77th in the 90-player field.
Rylee Tucker made 11 pars in her final round to shoot an eight-over 80. At +30 through 54 holes, the freshman was 86th in the field.
Grace Lambert rounded out the scoring for C-N with an 82 (+10) in her final round. With help from a birdie at the par-three 17th and the par-three 3rd, Lambert ended the week +16 over her three rounds. She landed 63rd in the field.
With a three-day total of 900, Carson-Newman was 12 strokes back of the next best in Erskine and will await the results of both the Clippd and WGCA rankings.
This was the Eagles' final event of the fall slate and will take a long winter hiatus before they open the spring on February 16th and 17th with the Battle at Hilton Head.
