HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Carson-Newman Women's golf sits in 8th place after second round struggle. The Eagles will have just one to two holes left to finish in round two tomorrow morning before they begin their final 18.
C-N dropped a few slots in the standings after their first round due to a back-nine struggle. Despite that, three golfers for C-N sit inside the top 35 with 18 more holes to play.
"Little bit of a rough day for the team battling the wind, but lots of good to build on for tomorrow's round," said head coach Alyssa Montgomery.
The graduate student Anaelle Picot had a good first round for the Eagles with consistency throughout the day. Picot was even par through eight holes when she made a bogey at the par-three 12th and followed up with a bogey at the par-four 14th. After coming in at 38 (+2), Picot put up a bogey on hole one and ended her first round with a double on the par four 3rd to finish round one with 77 (+5). She was tied for 15th after the first 18.
Grace Lambert started off her first round strong. The freshman bogeyed her first hole of 2026, but two holes later, circled a two on the card at the par three 8th. After the freshman birdied the 162-yard par three, she found three bogeys, but offset one of them with a birdie at the par three 17th. She came in at 38 (+2) on the backside. A bogey at the first and 3rd helped the freshman finish her round at 76. She was the Eagles' best finisher and sat inside the top ten after round one.
Madison Miller had a challenging start to the day, but cleaned things up as the round went on. After the freshman had a double bogey on the par four 7th, she made seven pars on the back nine for a 38 coming in. She began her front nine with a bogey on hole one, and made four more pars to finish with a 79 (+6). She was tied for 35th after round one.
Rylee Tucker was solid through the first eight holes for C-N. The freshman birdied her fourth hole of the day (the par five 9th), but then bogeyed on hole 10 to go even par through eight. The challenging stretch of holes 13-16 seemed to perplex the Eagles in round one, and Tucker was no different. She double-bogeyed the 14th and 16th holes to come in at 43. However, she turned things around down the stretch, going even par through her last five holes for a 78 (+6). She was in the top 30 after round one, in 26th place.
Emery Fisher had an uncharacteristic day through the first nine holes. After starting one-over through seven holes, Fisher recorded four straight holes over par with two double-bogeys on the 14th and 15th. She made her lone birdie of the round on the par four 18th. After making the turn, Fisher doubled the 341-yard par four 3rd. She ended round one with and 80 (+8). This was about seven strokes higher than her regular scoring average and slotted her in at 43rd.
As a team, the Eagles played hole 14 seven-over in round one. The stretch from 13-16 at Palmetto Dunes plagued C-N. They played that stretch +16 as a team in round one.
The Eagles were in 6th after round one, beating out #10 UIndy, #34 LMU and were just two strokes back of catching #30 Lenoir-Rhyne, #28 Erskine, and #9 North Georgia.
In round two, Picot started how she finished round one. A double bogey on the par five 4th turned into five straight pars for the grad student. She bogeyed hole ten, but then made seven more pars, Picot birdied hole one and had parred hole two when the horn blew, she will have one more hole to play to wrap up the full 36. She sits at three over in round two and +8 in total for an 14th place finish.
"Anaelle had a solid day. She fought hard with the win and course conditions to lead the team and hang around the top," said Montgomery.
Tucker was even par in round two through the first five holes thanks to a birdie on the eighth. The freshman made seven pars on the back nine and carded a 40 (+4) coming in on round two. Tucket bogeyed three of her final four holes before the horn blew. Tucker will play hole five tomorrow to wrap up the full 36 holes. She was +7 in round two and +13 overall for a 35th-place ranking.

Miller started round two with eight straight pars before she hit some pushback. After two bogeys and a double, the freshman parred the 335 par four 18th to come in at 41 (+5). She made four straight bogeys from holes 2-5 and will play hole six tomorrow as her finish to 36 holes. She was +9 when the horn blew and +16 overall in a tie for 53rd.

With the same mark as Miller, the junior is tied for 53rd.
