The Eagles made a 16-stroke improvement on the final day of the event, and Anaelle Picot improved in each of her three rounds. The graduate student had one of her best rounds of the seasons, with a one-under 71 in the final round.
"The team had a great final round, fighting hard to finish in 6th. They looked calm and confident coming down the final stretch to round out the event," said head coach Alyssa Montgomery.
Picot kept a fairly clean card. She made a birdie on her third hole of the day (the par four 6th). Her only blemish on the record for the final round was a bogey at the 141-yard par three 12th. After that, Picot recorded seven straight pars before her final birdie of the day on the par four 2nd. She was +6 over the 54 holes and finished in a tie for fourth place. This is her first top five finish this season.
"Very proud of Anaelle for leading the team this week. She even bested our individual finish from last year by one spot," said Montgomery. " She fought hard to turn her second round around and kept it going into the third."
Grace Lambert was the next best for C-N. Lambert made her first birdie of the day on the 10th, but made six bogeys following that, coming in to shoot 41 (+5) on the back nine. She went on to birdie holes one and four to shoot 75 (+3). The freshman was +15 over the three rounds total and snuck inside the top 25 out of 100 golfers in the field.
Rylee Tucker matched Lambert for her best round of the event. Tucker made a birdie on her first hole of the day and two more on the 8th and 10th holes. Four bogeys on the back nine sent the freshman in with a 39 (+3). She birdied the 2nd hole after the turn ad made double on the fourth hole for a 75 (+3). Tucker was +17 over the week and finished in a tie for 30th.
Madison Miller also played her best round of the event. Miller made five pars on the back nine coupled with a birdie on the 160 yard par three 17th to come in at 38 (+2). Her final birdie of the day came just two holes later on the 1st hole that was followed up with three bogeys for a 78 (+6).
