Men's soccer toppled 3-1, Pereira claims lone goal

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – No. 7 Young Harris (9-0-1) remains undefeated after sealing a 3-1 victory against Carson-Newman (5-5-2) on its home turf earlier tonight.
The match headed into halftime scoreless. Fourteen minutes into second, Paco Craig put the Mountain Lions on the board by following up Alex Wyper's rebounded shot.
Two minutes later, Rurik Pereira (Brazil) got on the end of a corner taken by Kristian Speake (United Kingdom) to tie it back up at ones. The tie stood for 19 minutes until Craig sent a cross into the box for teammate Kendall Carballo to finish.
Ilija Ilic finalized the score at 3-1 with a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
The Eagles were outshot 24 to 14 and 15 to five in shots on goal. Joao Dowsley (Brazil) led the team in shots with five. Pereira released three from the center back position, all on target, while Marius Staalby (Norway) and Lucas Siqueira (Brazil) each took two.
Ilic landed half of his eight shots on goal while five of Carballo's six were on target. Junior keeper Kavi Luchowa (England) tallied eleven saves on the match.
Robert Wagner (Germany) still holds the top spot with seven goals and 14 points. Staalby is in second with three goals, six assists and 12 points while Sindre Welo (Norway) is a close third with four goals, three assists and 11 points.
