Charger Park prepares for final match of 2014, UAH and C-N kick at 6:30 p.m.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Alabama-Huntsville (11-3-1) plays host to the Carson-Newman (6-7-2) men’s soccer team tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for the Eagles’ last away match of 2014 tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
Alabama-Huntsville Match Notes
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Alabama-Huntsville (11-3-1) plays host to the Carson-Newman (6-7-2) men's soccer team tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for the Eagles' last away match of 2014 tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
The Lads are coming off a big 2-0 win at Queens last Saturday. Junior midfielder Lucas Siqueira (Brazil) opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a successful penalty kick.
In the 31st, Stuart Oliver sealed the two goal victory with his first goal of the season. He received a ball from Johann Pereira (Brazil) and rocketed a shot from 20 yards out.
Last Friday, the Chargers tied Montevallo 1-1 after two overtime periods. The team went down a goal in the 21st. Four minutes into the second half, Bailey Oliver tied up the match at ones; Leo De Smedt claimed the assist.
In the Chargers' opening match, the team fell 3-0 to C-N's conference foe Lincoln Memorial. The Eagles tied LMU 2-2 at home Oct. 9. Senior Joao Dowsley (Brazil) and junior Sindre Welo (Norway) provided C-N's goals.
UAH defeated Rollins, then nationally ranked, 3-2 in overtime. Ryo Suzuki supplied the Chargers with their game winner in the final minute of the first overtime period.
Last season, the Lads defeated Rollins in the NCAA Elite Eight 2-1 with goals by Ross Frame (United Kingdom) and Nick Skoda (Knoxville, Tenn.) to advance to the national semifinal round for the first time in program history.
