JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman swimming kicks off the 2025-26 season with the 10th annual Blue vs. Orange World Championships, beginning Friday, Sept. 19 at Cherokee Lake.
Due issues with the Carson-Newman Pool, the events held for Saturday, Sept. 20th are now taking place at Morristown Landing at 11:00 a.m.
The intrasquad meet has become a tradition for the Eagles, with the Orange Team earning the victory last season.
"The Blue vs. Orange always brings an electric atmosphere," said head coach Ben Young. "The swimmers do a great job getting ready to race and being prepared to get up and go. Our team continues to come back each year, and it just gets louder here."
The two-day meet begins Friday evening with long-distance races on Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, starting at 6 p.m.
"The open water event is one that we added last year," said Young. "It went really well, so we're definitely keeping it for this season. It adds a bit of excitement to day one…giving some people the chance to compete in open water gives them the freedom to do something they're more geared toward."
Competition continues Saturday inside, with the teams squaring off in a meet designed to simulate a regular season format.
"As far as day two goes, we bring in the shorter events and also include the alumni relay," Young said. "For us, it's always fun to get in the pool, and the entire day is about showcasing what this program ultimately is. It's team-led, and it gives our swimmers a chance to execute races in a laid-back environment that's still competitive."
Carson-Newman is back in the water Friday, Sept. 19 at Cherokee Lake, with races beginning at 6 p.m. for the 10th Blue vs. Orange World Championships.
