JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman swimming celebrates Senior Day this Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1:00 p.m. in the Maddox Student Activities Center as the Eagles welcome Lenoir-Rhyne and Milligan to Mossy Creek.
"We're expecting an electric atmosphere," said head coach Ben Young. "Milligan is a massive team, we're a massive squad, and adding Lenoir-Rhyne into that should make it real fun. The main thing for us is making sure we recreate the atmosphere from last Saturday, build off it, and send these seniors out with something to be proud of for what they have helped build."
The five seniors being celebrated this Saturday are Arthur Gluzman, Brett Ward, and Jakov Igrec on the men's side, along with Emma Bowling and Lillian Hilt for the women.
Senior Day festivities are slated to begin at approximately 12:55 p.m. for photos, with the meet set to start at 1:05 p.m.
"These five seniors each bring a bit of a different story to the table," said Young. "It has been incredible to watch them accept each challenge and continue to define what it means to be a student-athlete at Carson-Newman."
The Bears and Eagles have not met in a head-to-head matchup since the 2014–15 season, marking a lengthy hiatus in the series. The last meeting took place in Jefferson City, where Carson-Newman hosted Lenoir-Rhyne and secured a decisive 212–34 victory. Current Eagles head coach Ben Young competed in that meet.
This meet concludes the Eagles' home schedule, as the next time C-N gets off the blocks will be at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, running Wednesday, Feb. 4–7, at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
