JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After returning from the quad meet in Indianapolis, the Eagles are set to kick off South Atlantic Conference competition with a trip to Mars Hill this Friday, Oct. 10, at Harrell Pool. The meet is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.
Carson-Newman is coming off a strong showing at the quad meet with UIndy, Kenyon, and Nova Southeastern, where the team posted multiple personal bests and a program record from Gabriel Morales in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:47.95.
"It was a fantastic weekend," said head coach Ben Young. "It was a great way to start the year and spoke volumes about the amount of work that's been put in, even with our current pool situation. The energy and willingness to race made me incredibly excited about where we are and where we can go this season."
Carson-Newman will open its first conference meet of the 2025-26 season by taking a smaller squad to compete against the Mountain Lions. This will be the first of two matchups between the programs, with the second meeting scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, in Mossy Creek.
"Mars Hill has a smaller squad this year, so we're also taking a smaller team to that meet," said Young. "The goal is to get in there and focus on the details, even though the pool is going to be a lot different than what we just experienced in Indianapolis."
During the 2024-25 season, the Eagles faced Mars Hill twice and swept both meetings.
Carson-Newman opens SAC competition this Friday, Oct. 10, at Harrell Pool in Mars Hill, N.C., with the first race set for 5:00 p.m.
