Eagles Face Wayne State, Eckerd to Open AVCA Championships
Fresh off a historic season, Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball begins its postseason journey Friday at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships with matchups against Wayne State (Neb.) and Eckerd.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball turns its focus to the national stage this Friday as the Eagles compete in the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Coming off a dominant 29-2 season, Carson-Newman enters the weekend with momentum after securing back-to-back South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Eagles have established themselves as one of the top small college programs in the country and now look to carry that success into postseason play.
"We are excited to get this tournament started!" said head coach Cat Collins. "Wayne State and Eckerd will each have very different styles of play. We just want to focus on us, make sure we are running our offensive schemes, and stay focused on the things we can control."
Carson-Newman opens competition Friday morning against Wayne State (Neb.) at 9:05 a.m. before returning to the sand later in the afternoon to face Eckerd at 2:30 p.m. The Eagles will rely on their depth and consistency across all five flights, a key factor in their conference championship run.
With a proven lineup and confidence built from a historic season, Carson-Newman aims to make a strong statement in Gulf Shores as it begins its pursuit of a national title at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships.
