JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (16-5, 12-3 SAC) aims to get back in the win column on Saturday afternoon as it visits Anderson (10-11, 6-9 SAC) for a South Atlantic Conference contest at 2:00 p.m.
Carson-Newman suffered its fifth setback of the year on Wednesday, losing to UVA Wise 83-70. Carson-Newman never led in the contest. It's the first time C-N has not led in a regular season game since November 27, 2016 at Columbus State. Heading into that matchup, C-N had won six of its past seven road games. Overall this season, the Lady Eagles are 6-4 in road matchups and 5-3 in road conference games.
The Lady Eagles continue to get quality scoring from their bench. Caroline Hill scored 16 points for the second straight game off the bench. She extends a streak where C-N's bench has produced at least one double-digit scorer in six straight games.
Individual scoring bursts have been a theme for this year's group. At least one player has recorded six or more straight points for C-N in consecutive games. Seven different players are part of this, with Jennifer Sullivan's nine runs being the most on the club.
In just 51 career games with C-N, Sullivan has put her three-point shooting on full display. Her 120 three-pointers are 12th-most in program history, just 10 away from moving into the top ten. To reach that mark, she has done so on superb efficiency. Sullivan's 41.1 career three-point percentage is second-best all-time in program history.
Carson-Newman crushed Anderson 91-66 in the first meeting earlier this season. C-N scored 61 second-half points on 68 percent shooting to run away with the win. Overall, the Lady Eagles led the all-time series 25-16 and has lost its two most recent trips to the Abney Center.
After a win over Newberry on Wednesday, Anderson sits in sole possession of seventh place in the South Atlantic Conference standings. The Trojans have won back to back games and are 10-11 and six and nine in league games.
The Abney Athletic Center has been kind to AU in 2025-26. The Trojans have won four straight home games and all have been by double digits. Their average margin of victory during this home winning streak is four. Overall, they are 5-3 at home with two of those three losses coming by one possession.
Graduate student guard Ciara Harris has been a main reason why AU has won back to back games and has played well at home. She has scored at least 20 points in back to back games and in seven of her 21 games this year. In the first meeting between these two schools, C-N held Harris to just 10 points.
The Trojans are the best free-throwing shooting team in the league at 78.3 percent. They have made 70 percent or better of their foul shots in 15 of the 21 games.
Tip off with the Trojans is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 1:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mix 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live. A live camera of the broadcast crew "On Press Row" will also be available on YouTube.
