JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's basketball head coach Mike Mincey announced Wednesday the hiring of Jennifer Sullivan as a graduate assistant coach with the program.
"Jenn had a profound effect on our program for the last two years as a player and I believe she can have that same effect as a coach," Mincey said. "Pairing Jenn with Braelyn, as primary guard coaches cannot get any better. Having two of the best former players we've had, to lead and shape the next wave of players is extremely special. I think all of our players will benefit from it greatly. Having another voice and another set of eyes during practice and games will be so helpful to the success of our program."
Sullivan spent her final two collegiate playing seasons with the Lady Eagles and was a major contributor to the team winning 47 games the past two years and capturing the program's third Southeast Regional Championship in the 2025-26 season.
"The opportunity was presented to me and I just knew that I didn't want to leave these girls just yet," Sullivan said. "I love being around them and the coaches. I really enjoy it here and figured I should take advantage of this opportunity."
The Knoxville native started 64 of the 65 games she played in, scoring 998 points in her Carson-Newman career. Her 15.4 point per game scoring average came on impressive shooting splits, shooting 43% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Her three-point percentage ranks third all-time in school history. In two years, Sullivan made 148 three-pointers which ranks eighth-most in program history. During her senior season, she made 87 three-pointers, the second-most threes in a single season for the program. Sullivan led the SAC in triples made and buried the fifth-most in DII this past season.
The two-time first team All-SAC guard had 28 games with at least three triples and 23 games in which she scored at least 20 points. Sullivan scored her career-high against Tusculum on January 28th of this past season, making 12 of her 17 shots to score 33 points which included six three-pointers.
