Dolgin tops in pole vault, with Jordan and Kasmi blazing on Day 1 at Tennessee Invite
After a week off for a majority of the team, Carson-Newman outdoor track and field did not have to travel too far to get back in action. The Eagles kicked off day one at the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville and the Scots Invitational, hosted by Maryville Invitational.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After a week off for a majority of the team, Carson-Newman outdoor track and field did not have to travel too far to get back in action. The Eagles kicked off day one at the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville and the Scots Invitational, hosted by Maryville Invitational.
Pole vaulter Cadence Dolgin continued his strong freshman season, taking first place. He claimed the top spot, clearing 4.76m. On the women's side, Katie Edmunds came in sixth in the pole vault. The freshman had a personal best at 3.52m.
On the track, a duo of indoor All-Americans lit up the timesheets in the 200m as Rylan Jordan and Amine Kasmi took second and third. The sophomore, Jordan, set a personal record time of 20.83 seconds, it is the sixth-fastest time in Division II. Meanwhile, Kasmi made his outdoor season debut at 20.89 seconds.
After breaking the school record in the 400m hurdles two weeks ago, Lidija Djokic did it again. She came home in 10th at 1:01.87.
Other performances on the track saw Lovelyne Larrame place 19th in the 200m with a time of 24.16 seconds, which is the 21st-best time in Division II. Jenna Pittman crossed the line in 18th after a 4:46.14 in the 1500m.
In the field events, other than pole vault, a handful of Eagles performed well.
In the triple jump, Carlos Kouassi came in 14th on the men's side, 14.36m. For the women's team, Brooke Taylor and Kendall Whitehead picked up top 15 finishes. Taylor reached 11.90m, while Whitehead finished with a best of 11.64m.
Meanwhile, Ben Swank secured eighth place in the javelin, with a distance of 50.26m.
At the Scots Invitational, just a pair of Eagles were in action down the road in Maryville. In the hammer throw, Zayne Sharpe reached 33.19m for 10th place, with Dominika Kooch hitting 10.64m in the triple jump.
Saturday's conclusion starts at noon from the Tennessee Invite. All events are being held at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. Maryville's events are happening at the Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track.
