Men's outdoor track and field shoots up to No. 15 in USTFCCA Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. - In the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, Carson-Newman men's outdoor track & field was ranked No. 15. This comes on the heels of a third-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships last week. Rylan Jordan was named the Athlete of the Meet, leaving with two gold medals and a silver medal.

On April 21st, C-N appeared at No. 19, marking the first time under head coach Kieran Showler-Davis that men's outdoor track was ranked. Last week, the team dropped to No. 23 before climbing up eight spots today.
Indoor track & field has finished the season ranked in each of the last two years, including No. 20 in 2026. These are the first top 20 rankings for men's outdoor track & field since 2023, under former head coach David Needs.
The Eagles are one of two South Atlantic Conference squads ranked, led by No. 6 Wingate. The national event squad, which averages the top four marks in each event, slots the Eagles in third at the 100m and second in the 200m. Rylan Jordan owns the sixth-fastest 100m time at 10.15 seconds, and the second-fastest 200m, 20.44 seconds, just 0.01 seconds behind the nation's best mark. Amine Kasmi is fourth in the 200m at 20.48 seconds. C-N's 4x100m relay team is fifth in Division II with a time of 39.63 seconds.
Next up is the Lee University Last Chance on May 9th in Cleveland, Tennessee. It presents one final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the Division II Outdoor National Championships on May 22nd to 24th, if they have not done so already.
