Eagles carry five-game winning streak into clash with UAH

The Eagles are 8-2 in non-conference play this season. It's the program's 15th straight season with at least eight non-conference victories. C-N is 1-2 in its out of league games against the GSC.
Carson-Newman is on its second-longest winning streak of the season, having won five straight games after completing a 4-0 week. During this winning streak, C-N has outscored its opponents 43-14. After losing its six of its first eight two-run games or less this season, the Eagles have now won three straight games decided by two-runs or less and are 5-6 this season.
The Eagles won the first meeting against Alabama Huntsville on February 17th. They jumped out to an eight-run lead after five innings thanks to three different multi-run innings. Drew Fletcher tossed a career-high five scoreless innings. The Chargers did apply some late game pressure on C-N, scoring three times in each of the sixth and eighth innings. But, the Eagles held off UAH's rally to win 10-6. Tomorrow afternoon's matchup will be just the second-ever meeting between the two schools in Jefferson City. C-N won the only meeting in Mossy Creek 12-8 on March 30th, 2022.
Over his collegiate career, Logan Floyd has proved to be one of the best hitters in the conference and in the region. After a trio of multi-hit days this past week, Floyd now has 54 career games with at least two hits, 14 of which have come this season. The junior infielder is fourth in the SAC in batting average, hitting .418 this season. His 30 RBI are tied for third-most in the league this season.
Carson-Newman's starting rotation is coming off another elite pitching performances in this past weekend's series at Emory & Henry. The trio of Kolton Casson, Ryan Higgins and Christian Henderson did not allow an earned run in 20 innings pitched against E&H. Over the last six games this trio has started, C-N has allowed just two runs in the first five innings of the games. Including freshman Drew Fletcher's midweek starts, the Eagles' starters have just a 3.66 earned run average this season.
The Chargers head to Mossy Creek with some momentum, after winning the series finale against #11 West Florida 10-4 this past Saturday. They lost the series, but were able to get their first ranked win of the year. Since losing to C-N a month ago, Alabama Huntsville has gone 5-9 and has suffered through multiple losing stretches of three games or more. UAH has lost four straight conference series, but it has won its last two midweek games. The Chargers defeated Tuskegee 11-2 and then held off UT Southern 13-12 on March 3rd.
Head coach Hunter Royer's team has played better in their road games than at home. They are just 4-9 in Huntsville and have been .500 at 4-4 on the road this season. Both of their aforementioned midweek wins came on the road.
Caleb Mahan did not play in the first meeting between these clubs and is UAH's best hitter this season. The senior infielder is hitting .423 with a team-high 18 RBI. Just three of his 30 hits have gone for extra bases in 2026. Mahan went 4 for 4 in the win over #11 West Florida last time out.
Three other Chargers hit above .300 for a team that ranks fifth in the Gulf South Conference with a .281 batting average. They score 7.6 runs per game but have reached that mark in just one of their last five games.
Alabama Huntsville's 7.60 team earned run average ranks near the bottom of the Gulf South Conference this season. Only one pitcher with multiple appearance has an ERA below three. UAH has allow double-digit runs in half of its games (12 times) this season.
