ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its all-conference honors Thursday afternoon, with Carson-Newman having three of its players be recognized.
Carson-Newman's lone first team All-SAC selection was junior midfielder Mitchell Honcoop. The program's other two all-conference honors were Antoine Torrent and Maxime Wester, who earned both named to the third team.
Honcoop's first team all-conference honor is the program's first since Nic Carsh in 2022 and the three selections overall are the most since 2022 as well.
C-N's top goal scorer is an all-conference player for the second straight season. Honcoop was once again an exceptional midfielder for the Eagles, scoring a team-high six goals to go along with two assists. His 14 point season equals his output during the 2024 season.
Half of the Dutchmen's goals this season were penalty kick goals. His three PK goals tie him with seven other Eagles for the most PK goals in a single season. The five for his career are one off the program's all-time record set by Thaylan Silva in 2021.
Honcoop scored four of his six goals in SAC play, with two coming in two of C-N's three victories this season. The midfielder scored four times in September, scoring in back-to-back games on two different occasions that month. His final assist of the year was off a corner kick in the 86th minute of a 2-1 win in the regular season finale over Tusculum. The corner kick found the feet of Torrent, who buried the game-winner to lift C-N into the postseason.
"The work you have to put is important," Honcoop said. "Especially being a returner, you know what it takes. They ask a lot of your body and so it is really important to come in fit because that's probably the least you can do. Personally, I've never felt like I was in better shape than this year. I think that really contributed to my performance on the pitch."
Torrent earns his first All-SAC honor after scoring three goals and adding one assist during his sophomore season. The forward had a breakout game against Lincoln Memorial on Oct 22. He recorded his first career brace in a 4-3 loss to the Railsplitters. He scored goals 18 minutes apart in the 52nd and 70th minutes. Both of his goals in the match helped give C-N the lead. The forward scored his final goal of the year in the aforementioned regular season finale win over Tusculum.
The Clermont ferrand, France native attempted 24 shots, with 13 of them finding the target. Battling through an early-season injury, Torrent started 12 games and was one of 11 Eagles to play over 1,000 minutes this season.
For the second time in his career, Maxime Wester is an All-SAC third team player. He earned that same honor as a freshman and is now recognized by the league for a second time.
Wester made critical contributions all across the field for C-N in 2025. Offensively, he scored just one goal but it was a much needed one. His goal was a 58th minute game-winning goal to help the Eagles defeat Wingate on Oct 25.
On the defensive side, Wester was one of the most reliable Eagles defender all season long. He logged a team-best and career-best 1,433 minutes this season, which is all but seven minutes he could've played during the year. He was one of just three Eagles to start every game this season.
