Corcoran Earns All-American Honors with Seventh-Place Finish in 400 IM
Sophomore Megan Corcoran continued her strong national meet Thursday, finishing seventh in the 400-yard individual medley for the Carson-Newman Eagles at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore Megan Corcoran continued her strong national meet Thursday, finishing seventh in the 400-yard individual medley for the Carson-Newman Eagles at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Corcoran posted a 4:21.67 in the championship final to earn All-American honors and score 12 team points for Carson-Newman.
The sophomore opened the race with a 26.88 butterfly split and reached the halfway mark in 2:03.63 after the backstroke leg. Corcoran battled through the breaststroke portion before finishing strong with a 29.54 freestyle split to secure the seventh-place finish.
The result marks Corcoran's second All-American performance of the meet, after previously earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 IM earlier in the championships.
Carson-Newman continues competition Friday as the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships carry on in Evansville.
