Corcoran Earns All-American Honors with Sixth-Place Finish in 200 Backstroke
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Megan Corcoran closed out an impressive week for the Carson-Newman Eagles Saturday night, earning All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Megan Corcoran closed out an impressive week for the Carson-Newman Eagles Saturday night, earning All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Corcoran touched the wall in 1:58.74 during the championship final after posting a 1:57.96 in the morning preliminaries to qualify among the top eight swimmers in the nation.
The sophomore opened the race with a 27.96 split in the first 50 yards and reached the halfway point at 57.81. She maintained her rhythm over the final 100 yards, closing with splits of 30.74 and 30.19 to secure the sixth-place finish.
Corcoran's performance earned her All-American recognition, adding to an already strong week at nationals and closing out the championship meet on a high note for Carson-Newman.
