KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carson-Newman women's soccer senior defender Annika Fend was named Third Team All-Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday afternoon.
This is her second all-region honor, after being named a first team all-region defender by the D2CCA this season. Fend has two region honors to go along with first team All-SAC honors this season as well. Fend is C-N's first all-region honor since Abbie Zander in 2023.
Carson-Newman was one of just four South Atlantic Conference schools with a player recognized on a USC all-region team.
The senior defender was a reliable piece of Carson-Newman's defense all season long. Her 1,401 minutes played were the most by an Eagle this season. She was also one of just two Eagles to start every game this season.
Defensively, Fend was one of several consistent defenders that led C-N to seven shutouts in 15 games this season. Not only was her presence felt on the defensive side, but on the offensive end as well. The Herxheim, Germany native scored two goals and led the Eagles with her five assists, three of which came during league games.
"It's a team sport and none of this would be possible without my teammates," Fend said. "I think they set me up for success this season. Each of them work so hard on the field every day. I'm just very thankful to share this with them and for them helping me be a better player every day as well."
